SHINE STORY: Village Elementary Student Council selects the McKenna Claire Foundation as their January “Coins for the Cure” project.

Board member, Jeanine Ehret, had the pleasure of spending time with the Student Council at Village Elementary School this morning. The Student Council had invited her to come speak about McKenna and the Foundation since they had decided to choose the McKenna Claire Foundation as one of their “Coins for the Cure” projects.

The council chooses a special cause for each month. They learn about the issue & then spread the word to the rest of the student body. Each classroom gets a decorated jar for coins, which they collect at the end of the month (or when they are full!). Village has chosen the McKenna Claire Foundation for the month of January. (The teachers reiterated that the idea was completely student generated.)

During their time together this morning, Jeanine shared information about McKenna’s type of cancer — Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), shared stories about McKenna, told the Student Council about the Foundation and its goals, and congratulated them on doing something for others.

We are so excited and proud to see the MCF community grow and to watch these student leaders pave the way towards a better future. Please join us in thanking them!
